Shop Towels

Shop towels are a HIGH RISK item for dryer fires due to the nature of how they are being used by our clients.

These towels are used to wipe up oily messes and will be soaked in substances such as:

  • Diesel Fuel
  • Gasoline
  • Motor Oil
  • Grease
  • Solvents

How to Wash

  • Program set to HOT
  • Heavy Soil and Extra Rinse selected
  • One shot alkali detergent 100ml (3 loads on blue tide cup) in pre-wash
  • Industrial Degreaser 100ml (3 loads on blue tide cup) in main wash liquid compartment [back right]

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST RE-WASH AS MANY TIMES AS NECESSARY UNTIL THE RAGS ARE LEAVE ABSOLUTELY NO OILY RESIDUE TO THE TOUCH.

NO MATTER WHAT YOU MUST NEVER PLACE OILY RAGS INTO THE DRYER AS THIS IS AN EXTREMELY HIGH RISK FOR DRYER FIRES.

How to Dry

Shop towels may be tried on a medium heat and generally will be dry within 10-15 minutes. Do not over dry as this will reduce the lifespan of the towels, cause shrinkage and increase risk of dryer fires.

Culling

While folding shop towels you are bound to come across towels are simply too damaged from use by the client.

These shop towels must be discarded into the garbage.

You must keep detailed notes of how many shop towels were discarded. This is to be submitted to your manager.
